Short answer

In southern Utah, some Masses follow the tourist season. The parish in Cedar City lists a Sunday Mass at St Dominic Chapel in Bryce Canyon "Memorial Day – Labor Day", and in Kanab the parish history says that since 1936 Mass has been said there each month, "particularly during the tourist season".

Kanab's story has a priest in it. Father Valine, the parish history says, came monthly for most of the year and "weekly during the tourist season, going also to the North Rim", and he "made and sold doughnuts along his stops, and became known affectionately as the 'Doughnut Priest'".

Below are nineteen places, each given with its address and a link to its own website: the Cathedral of the Madeleine, parishes that pray in Tongan, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish and in sign language, a Maronite church, the Latin Mass in Park City, young adult groups in Taylorsville and Orem, the parish of Utah's coal country, and the churches of the red-rock south. This is not every parish in Utah, only those whose own pages we were able to read.

This page comes from cana.love, a free site for people hoping to marry; it does not limit itself to Catholics, and a later section says why.

Catholics in Utah

Utah has a single diocese, the Diocese of Salt Lake City, with the Cathedral of the Madeleine as its mother church since 1909. The diocese's website refused automated visitors, so the cards below rest on the parishes' and campuses' own pages.

Salt Lake City prays in many languages. St Patrick on the Westside has a Tongan Mass on the second Sunday, a Myanmar Mass on the third and an African Mass on the fourth; Our Lady of Lourdes has a Korean Mass every Sunday and a Filipino Mass once a month; Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kearns is a Vietnamese parish; St Jude, the Maronite church, celebrates in English and Syriac; and St Vincent de Paul in Holladay has a Sunday Mass in American Sign Language.

1936the year Mass began to be said regularly in Kanab, particularly in the tourist season
1881the year miners founded St Mary's parish in Park City
18–35the ages of the young adult groups in Taylorsville and Orem

From the parishes' and campuses' own pages, opened 24 September 2026

Young adult groups name their ages: St Martin de Porres in Taylorsville and St Francis of Assisi in Orem both welcome ages eighteen to thirty-five. In Park City, St Mary's, founded by miners in 1881, offers the traditional Latin Mass on Sundays in its Old Town Chapel, built in 1884.

Where the community gathers

The nineteen places fall into four parts of the state: the Salt Lake Valley, the Wasatch Front and Back, coal country around Price, and the red-rock south.

The Salt Lake Valley

The Salt Lake Valley holds nine: the Cathedral of the Madeleine, St Patrick, Our Lady of Lourdes, St Catherine of Siena at the University of Utah, St Ambrose, St Jude, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kearns, St Vincent de Paul and St Martin de Porres.

The Wasatch Front and Back

The Wasatch Front and Back hold five: St Mary's and the Old Town Chapel in Park City, St Joseph in Ogden, and St Francis of Assisi in Orem with its young adults.

Coal country

Coal country holds two: Notre Dame de Lourdes in Price and St Michael in Green River.

The red-rock south

The red-rock south holds three: St George, Christ the King in Cedar City and St Christopher in Kanab.

Some places appear without a card. St Dominic Chapel in Bryce Canyon has Mass only from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and near Zion, in Springdale, the St George parish holds a Sunday Communion service, not a Mass. The Carmelite nuns in Holladay invite visitors to daily Mass in their chapel, but their website is some years old. The Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity in Huntsville closed in 2017.

Distances that decide everything

A line along the Wasatch
Ogden
under 1 hour
Salt Lake City
about 2½ hours
Price

A diagram, not a map. Driving times, as in the text.

In the Salt Lake Valley, the parishes on this page are within about twenty-five minutes of the cathedral. Ogden, Orem and Park City are each under an hour away.

Price is about two and a half hours south-east of Salt Lake City, and St George more than four hours south. In the red-rock country, Cedar City is about an hour from St George and Kanab nearly two.

So Catholic Utah is a line of towns along the Wasatch, with coal country and the red rock far to the south. Along the Wasatch, two people can meet on a weeknight; from Salt Lake City to St George, it is a weekend.

Your town and your willingness to move are both on the cana.love form, so a Salt Lake–St George distance is plain from the start.

Dating as a practising Catholic in Utah

A Tongan Mass on the Westside, a Maronite Qoorbono in Taylorsville, a Latin Mass in Park City and a summer Mass at Bryce: Utah's Catholics do not all pray alike, and cana.love lets you say how you do.

Mass, fasting and Scripture, each asked

How often you are at Mass is one question on the form, answered on five steps from weekly to seldom; fasting, Scripture and what brought you here are three more, and you choose for each whether others see it.

Parish and meaning, in your own words

Your parish and what gives your life meaning are typed in by you; a chapel of the mining years in Park City and a Newman Club in Cedar City would never share a menu.

Spanish is one of five languages

There are five languages on the site: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian.

Checked first, free, no password

Nothing goes public until it has been looked at: new profiles and photos pass an automatic check and, when in doubt, a human one. Members are not allowed to ask each other for money, and anyone caught at fraud is removed for good without a warning. There is nothing to pay and nothing to cancel, and instead of a password you receive a single-use link or code by email.

What cana.love is and is not

cana.love is not a Catholic-only platform.

Its door is open to Orthodox and Protestant Christians too, and to those who have not yet settled on a church, so long as marriage is what they are looking for; you choose in your settings who may find you. The parishes on this page pray in Spanish, Tongan, Korean, Vietnamese, Syriac and sign language besides English, and a site that kept others out would be smaller than those parishes are. The one thing it promises can be seen at once: each profile shows faith, practice and intentions before anything else. The site belongs to Cana SpA, registered in Chile; there is more on the About page.

Meeting safely

  • For a first date, pick a public place and daylight hours, and settle beforehand when the evening ends: coffee after Mass, or a café near 9th and 9th in Salt Lake City or on Park City's Main Street. Someone you trust should know where you are and, if you face I-15 or a canyon road in the dark, roughly when you will be home. Keep your home address to yourself at first.
  • On money we keep a single rule: no transfers, no loans and no travel paid for anyone before you have met face to face, however the request is framed. We look into a case after one report.

How reports are handled, and how to appeal a decision, is set out in the community guidelines.
