About cana.love
A dating site for people who want marriage, built for Christians of different traditions and for those who honor the same values.
The name
cana.love is named after the wedding at Cana in Galilee, where, in the second chapter of John's Gospel, Christ performed His first miracle: the wine ran out at a wedding feast, and He turned water into wine so that the feast could go on. Every Christian tradition reads that story as a blessing on marriage itself, and it is the reason a site about marriage carries this name. The domain is the name: cana.love, written in lowercase, everywhere.
What we believe a dating site owes you
Marriage, not a match.
The site is built for people looking for a spouse. There is one goal on the form, and the questions that follow are the questions people who want marriage actually ask each other: which church, how often, what about fasting, children, where you would live. Someone who wants a text-message friend for the summer will find the form beside the point, and that is the point.
Practice, not labels.
Two people can both tick "Orthodox" or "Catholic" and live entirely different lives. So the questionnaire asks how you practise, not only what you call yourself: which church you attend, how often you are actually there, what you do about fasting, how you feel about a spouse of another tradition. Orthodox members choose from twelve jurisdictions listed separately, and "Catechumen" is one of the options, because a large share of the people looking are exactly there.
Nothing behind a paywall.
Seeing who viewed your profile and who liked you costs nothing here, and on most sites that is the paid part. There are no subscriptions and no paid tiers. What that means for the way the site is run is explained below.
Checked before it is visible.
Every profile and every photo is reviewed before anyone else can see it, and anything doubtful goes to a person. Fraud, threats and asking members for money get a permanent removal without a warning.
Your profile is yours.
It does not appear in search engines. You can hide it from search on the site, decide who sees your gallery beyond the main photo, browse incognito, block someone completely, and read the reason for every moderation decision that concerns you. There is no password to leak: you sign in with a one-time link or code sent to your email.
Who it is for
cana.love is for adults who want to marry and who take faith and family seriously: Orthodox Christians looking for a spouse who shares the practice as well as the name; Catholics and Protestants who want a marriage grounded in their faith; and people who hold the same values about marriage and family without a confession of their own. Members set their own filters for whom they want to see, by faith, practice and intention.
Not an Orthodox-only site
cana.love is not an Orthodox-only platform, and we would rather say that here than have you find it out after registering. It is open to Christians of different traditions and to people who honor those values. What the site does promise is that your tradition, your practice and your intention are questions on the form and not afterthoughts, and that the people you meet answered the same questions. Faith background is asked, and it is always optional: Orthodox Christian, Catholic, Protestant or Evangelical, other Christian, spiritual but not religious, traditional values without religion, exploring faith, or prefer not to say.
How it works
You create a profile with a one-time link or code to your email, add a photo and a few sentences about yourself, and answer the questionnaire. Every profile and photo is checked before it becomes visible. Then you search by the things that matter to you, faith, practice, intention, age, children, where someone lives, and write to the people you want to write to. Seeing who viewed you and who liked you is free; so are read receipts, favourites, notes, saved searches and everything else on the site. If someone writes to you while you are away, you get one email with everything unread.
The site runs in five fully translated languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian, and the people you meet may be writing in another one of them. Optional AI helpers can translate a message, draft a first one, or give advice about a conversation; they run on credits, every new member receives 150 at registration, and everything else on the site works without them. The site can be installed on a phone like an app, and there is nothing to download from a store.
What it costs
Nothing. There is no subscription and there are no paid tiers, and there is no pricing page, because there is nothing to price. The only thing that will ever cost money is the optional AI helper, and at present there is no way to get more credits than the 150 you receive when you join: we cannot take payments today, and instead of promising "soon" we keep the pricing page closed. When credits can be bought, they will be bought once, not by subscription, and nothing that is free today will move behind them.
Moderation and safety
Every profile and every photo is reviewed before it becomes visible; the review is automated first, and anything doubtful goes to a person. The community guidelines, published in full, say what earns a warning and what earns a permanent removal: fake profiles, fraud, asking members for money, threats, explicit content, harassment, and profiles that are not looking for marriage. A report about another member reaches us straight away, with anything involving a minor placed at the top of the queue, and you are told what came of it. Any moderation decision can be appealed, and a person reads the appeal. Blocking someone hides your profile from them completely, in search, in suggestions and by direct link.
Two rules are worth repeating on this page. Never send money to someone you have not met. And meet in a public place, tell someone where you are going, and keep the conversation on the site until you are comfortable moving it elsewhere. There is a limit of a hundred messages a day and ten new conversations, which is a defence against mass mailing, not a paywall, and cannot be lifted for money.
What you will not find here
- NoSubscriptions, paid tiers, a "premium" badge, or a feature that is free today moving behind a price tomorrow.
- NoAdvertising.
- NoA deck of faces to judge in a second: you search by what matters and read a profile.
- NoMember counts, on this page or any other: a number you cannot check is a number you should not trust, and we would rather show you the dated list of what changed on the site than a figure.
- NoProfiles in search engines.
- NoA password.
- NoA door that opens only to one tradition: the site says who it is for, and it is for more people than one Church.
Where we are
cana.love is operated by Cana SpA, a company seated in Santiago, Chile; the Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Chile and name the courts of Santiago. That is why the site speaks Spanish and Portuguese as well as English, German and Russian, and why members write to us at support@cana.love and a person answers. The site is in early access: every feature already works, and the What's new page keeps a dated record of what changed and when.
How to check what we say
- Read the Terms of Service, which say in plain words that the site is free and offers no paid subscriptions.
- Read the community guidelines, which say what is reviewed before a profile becomes visible and what gets a member removed.
- Read the questionnaire page, which lists every question and every option as they stand on the form today, read from the form itself.
- Read the What's new page, where every entry is dated with the day it went live.
- Read the Places pages, which describe where the Church is, place by place, and are checked against the parishes' own sites.
Questions
Is cana.love only for Orthodox Christians?
No. It is for Christians of different traditions and for people who honor those values without a confession of their own. You can filter by faith and practice to see only the people you want to see.
Which Orthodox jurisdictions can I choose?
Twelve are listed separately: OCA, ROCOR, Greek, Antiochian, Serbian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Georgian, Carpatho-Russian, Albanian, Catechumen and Other Canonical.
Does it cost anything?
No. There is no subscription and there are no paid tiers. Optional AI helpers use credits; every new member receives 150, and at present credits cannot be bought.
Are profiles real?
Every profile and every photo is reviewed before it becomes visible, and anything doubtful goes to a person. Fraud gets a permanent removal without a warning.
Who can see my profile?
Members of the site, subject to the privacy settings you choose. Search engines cannot: member profiles are kept out of them.
Where is cana.love based?
In Santiago, Chile, operated by Cana SpA under Chilean law. The site is open to adults anywhere, in five languages.
How do I reach a person?
Write to support@cana.love. Moderation decisions, appeals and reports come back by email, with the reasoning.
Why is there no pricing page?
Because there is nothing to sell yet. When credits can be bought, the page will say what they cost and nothing else will change.
