Short answer

At the south end of the Las Vegas Strip stands a church that, in its own words, was "designated by the Vatican to be a Shrine and NOT a parish". The Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer was dedicated on 2 February 1993, built, it explains, because the cathedral at the north end of the Strip, even enlarged, could not hold everyone who came.

Its website greets you with "Welcome to your church when away from home". The doors open every day, and on Sunday there are five Masses, from eight in the morning to a traditional Latin Mass at two and a Mass in Spanish at five.

People who live in Las Vegas share those pews with visitors, and the parishes around the Shrine pray in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic and Tagalog.

Thirteen places are listed below, each with an address and a link to its own page: the Shrine, the Catholic centres at UNLV and the University of Nevada, Reno, parishes that pray in five languages, a Maronite church, and the Latin Mass oratory in Reno. They are not every parish; they are the places whose pages we could read.

cana.love, the publisher of this page, is free and made for people who want to marry. It is not only for Catholics, and a later section explains why.

Catholics in Nevada

Nevada has two sees: the Archdiocese of Las Vegas in the south, now a metropolitan archdiocese, and the Diocese of Reno in the north. Both websites, both cathedrals' websites and most parish sites refused automated visitors, so every card below comes from a parish, shrine or campus page of its own, and Guardian Angel Cathedral appears without its Mass times.

Las Vegas prays in many languages. At St Anne, four of the seven Sunday Masses are in Spanish; at Holy Family in the east of the valley, four of six. Our Lady of La Vang is a Vietnamese parish that offers a Mass for marriage and family on the first Thursday of each month. St Paul Chong Hasang is the Korean parish. At St Sharbel, the Maronite church, Sunday Liturgies are in English and Arabic, with a Spanish Mass on the first Sunday of the month and a Tagalog Mass on the second.

In Reno, a community that had gathered since 1996 as Holy Spirit Mission became the Oratory of St Joseph in 2025, in the care of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, which celebrates the 1962 Missal there every day.

Where the community gathers

The thirteen places fall into three parts of the state: the Strip and central Las Vegas, the rest of the Las Vegas valley, and Reno with the Carson Valley.

The Strip and central Las Vegas

The Strip and central Las Vegas hold five: the Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer, the UNLV Newman Center, Christ the King, St Anne and St Paul Chong Hasang.

The Las Vegas valley

The rest of the valley holds four: Our Lady of La Vang, Holy Family, St Francis de Sales and St Sharbel.

Reno and the Carson Valley

Reno and the Carson Valley hold four: the Oratory of St Joseph, the Newman Center at the University of Nevada, Immaculate Conception in Sparks and St Gall in Gardnerville.

Some places appear without a card. Guardian Angel Cathedral, at the north end of the Strip, and St Thomas Aquinas Cathedral in Reno have websites that refused automated visitors, so we could not read their Masses. The Syro-Malabar eparchy lists two communities in the Las Vegas valley, and there is a Melkite outreach and a Byzantine parish; we could not find their times. In rural Nevada, from Ely to Winnemucca, parish churches are hours apart and their sites could not be read.

Distances that decide everything

Two compact cities
The Shrine
9 min
Cathedral

A diagram, not a map. Driving times, as in the text.

In Las Vegas, everything on this page is within about a quarter of an hour of the Shrine: the cathedral, at the other end of the Strip, is nine minutes away, and UNLV five. In Reno, the Oratory, the university and Sparks are about ten minutes from each other, and Gardnerville about an hour south.

Between the two cities lies most of the state: Las Vegas to Reno is more than seven hours by road.

So Catholic Nevada is two cities, each compact, with a long empty road between them. Inside either, two people can meet any evening; between them, it is a journey you plan.

On cana.love, where you live and whether you would move are part of the form, so a Las Vegas–Reno distance is known before the first message.

Dating as a practising Catholic in Nevada

A Latin Mass on the Strip, a Vietnamese Mass for marriage and family, a Maronite Liturgy in Arabic and a candlelight Mass in Reno: Catholics in Nevada pray in many ways. cana.love asks which is yours.

Mass, fasting and Scripture, each asked

The form asks how often you are at Mass, from every week to seldom, on five steps. Fasting, Scripture and what you hope to find are separate questions, and each answer can be shown or kept private.

Parish and meaning, in your own words

Parish and meaning are written, not chosen: a shrine on the Strip and a Newman centre in Reno do not fit on one list.

Spanish is one of five languages

English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian are the site's languages.

What cana.love is and is not

cana.love is not a Catholic-only platform.

Orthodox Christians, Protestants and people still finding their church are welcome too, when they want the same kind of marriage, and your settings decide who sees you. Nevada's Catholic parishes pray in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic and Tagalog as well as English, and a site with a closed door would be narrower than they are. What it promises is on every profile: faith, practice and intentions, to be read first. Cana SpA, a company registered in Chile, runs the site; the About page says more.

Meeting safely

  • Make the first meeting a daytime one, in a public place, with a time to leave agreed: coffee after Mass, a café in the Arts District of Las Vegas or in midtown Reno. Tell a friend where you are going and, if the drive home is long, when you expect to arrive. Your address can wait.
  • Money has one rule: until you have met in person, send nothing, lend nothing and pay for no one's travel, whatever you are told. One report is enough for us to look into it.

The community guidelines explain what happens after a report and how to appeal.
