Short answer
Michigan's archdiocese has already written the list this page needs: Detroit Catholic Young Adults, the archdiocesan ministry for ages eighteen to thirty-five, publishes its parish groups with street addresses and the rhythm each keeps, a third-Tuesday gathering in Troy, a monthly young adult Mass and weekly sports nights in Royal Oak, monthly hikes from South Lyon, a bilingual group in south-west Detroit, a monthly Aquinas Night at the Latin Mass shrine on Jay Street. This page takes that list as its spine and adds what the rest of the state publishes: Lansing's groups by town, the student parishes at Michigan, Michigan State, Eastern, Oakland, Western, Central, Grand Valley, Ferris, Michigan Tech and Northern, the Chaldean cathedral in Southfield, the Latin Mass parishes in Flint and Kalamazoo, and three shrines. Twenty-five places in all, each with an address.
One diocese on this page states an age and the page quotes it: Detroit, eighteen to thirty-five, and it says in the same breath that the ministry is for college students, singles, professionals, engaged and married couples and new parents. Lansing says young adults, the campus parishes say students, and the page does not add a number to either.
This page belongs to cana.love, which is free, made for people who want marriage rather than a match, and built on a form that asks what the person next to you at the third-Tuesday gathering in Troy would want to know by the second month: how many Sundays a month you are at Mass, which parish, what you do about fasting, whether marriage is the aim. It is not a Catholic-only site; a section below says so plainly.
Catholics in Michigan
The Archdiocese of Detroit runs its young adult ministry from State Street downtown under the name Detroit Catholic Young Adults, and its knowledge base carries the page every diocese should have: the parish young adult groups, each with a sentence and an address. Faith in the D meets at Ss Peter and Paul, the Jesuit church on St Antoine Street, for Mass, socials and Bible studies. Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth has a monthly evening of prayer and community and weekly small-group Bible studies. St Anastasia in Troy gathers on the third Tuesday of each month. St Mary in Royal Oak has a monthly young adult Mass and social, weekly sports nights and weekly small groups. St Joseph in South Lyon walks: monthly hikes and meditation in the warmer months. Most Holy Redeemer in south-west Detroit meets monthly in Spanish and English. St Joseph Shrine on Jay Street, the Institute of Christ the King's church, has a monthly Aquinas Night and a monthly Sursum Corda conference, and the Institute's own page adds a young adults' silent retreat in August. Two more groups on the archdiocese's list, Cor Ignis and Young Catholic Professionals, have no address and are named here without a pin.
The same knowledge base maps the campuses for the whole state, diocese by diocese, and the page follows it. Detroit Catholic Campus Ministry serves Wayne State, Michigan-Dearborn and Henry Ford from Evergreen Road in Dearborn; Oakland University has St John Fisher Chapel, Grizzly Catholic, on East Walton Boulevard. In the Diocese of Grand Rapids, Ferris State has the St Paul Newman Center at St Mary-St Paul in Big Rapids and Grand Valley has St Luke University Parish, Laker Catholic, on 42nd Avenue. Western Michigan has St Thomas More Student Parish on Monroe Street in Kalamazoo; Central Michigan has St Mary University Parish on South Washington Street in Mount Pleasant; the Upper Peninsula has St Albert the Great at Michigan Tech in Houghton and the Catholic Campus Ministry at Northern in Marquette.
From the archdiocese's and centers' own pages, opened 20 September 2026; Detroit is the one diocese that states an age
Lansing's diocese publishes its young adults by town rather than by address: two groups at St Thomas the Apostle in Ann Arbor and a graduate students' and young professionals' group at St Mary Student Parish there; St Patrick's group in Brighton; a college ministry called LAUNCH in Flint; St Joseph's group in Howell; Wednesday evening gatherings at St Mary Cathedral in Lansing, a graduate and young professional group at St John Student Center in East Lansing and a Friday sports night for the Lansing area; St Andrew's group in Saline and discipleship dinners at St Elizabeth in Tecumseh; and a diocesan Catholicism on Tap. The two student parishes with addresses, St Mary on Thompson Street in Ann Arbor for the University of Michigan and St John on M.A.C. Avenue for Michigan State, are on the map with St John the Baptist in Ypsilanti for Eastern Michigan; the cathedral's site could not be read on the day, so its Wednesday evenings are named here without a pin.
The Latin Mass in Michigan is anchored by the Institute's shrine in Detroit and continues in two diocesan parishes on the page: St Matthew in Flint, with a sung Mass on Sundays at noon, and St Mary on Charlotte Avenue in Kalamazoo, with Mass in the old rite every day of the week and a young adults group of its own. The Eastern Catholic seat in the state is Chaldean: the Diocese of St Thomas the Apostle has its Mother of God Cathedral on Berg Road in Southfield, one of a dozen Chaldean churches its site lists across the Detroit suburbs and beyond, and a Latin-rite Catholic may marry in any of them.
Three shrines close the map: the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica on 12 Mile Road in Royal Oak, whose front page carried a Thursday evening series when this was written; the Solanus Casey Center on Mount Elliott Street in Detroit, at the tomb of the Capuchin beatified in 2017; and the Cross in the Woods in Indian River, with its summer confession hours and grounds.
Where the community gathers
Michigan's practising Catholic singles gather in four places: Detroit and its suburbs, the Ann Arbor-Lansing-Flint triangle, the west of the Lower Peninsula, and the north with the Upper Peninsula.
Detroit and its suburbs
Detroit and its suburbs hold thirteen of the twenty-five places: the archdiocesan ministry on State Street and Faith in the D on St Antoine Street downtown, St Joseph Shrine and the Solanus Casey Center on the east side, Most Holy Redeemer in the south-west, St Mary and the Little Flower in Royal Oak, St Anastasia in Troy, Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth, St Joseph in South Lyon, the Chaldean cathedral in Southfield, Grizzly Catholic in Auburn Hills and the campus ministry in Dearborn.
Ann Arbor, Lansing and Flint
The Ann Arbor-Lansing-Flint triangle is four: St Mary Student Parish in Ann Arbor, St John the Baptist in Ypsilanti, St John Church and Student Center in East Lansing, and St Matthew in Flint.
The west
The west is five: St Mary and St Thomas More in Kalamazoo, St Luke for Grand Valley in Allendale, the Newman Center in Big Rapids and St Mary University Parish in Mount Pleasant.
The north and the Upper Peninsula
The north is three, and far apart: the Cross in the Woods at Indian River, St Albert the Great in Houghton and the campus ministry in Marquette, the last two on the Upper Peninsula and eight hours from Detroit.
Meeting places worth knowing
The archdiocesan ministry for ages eighteen to thirty-five, by its own definition: a calendar, an online community, small groups, the list of parish groups and campus ministries, and a text-and-email list.

Distances that decide everything
A schematic, not a map. Driving times as given in the text.
The Detroit groups are a suburb apart, not a state apart: Royal Oak and Troy are twenty and thirty minutes north of downtown on I-75, Plymouth and South Lyon forty minutes west, Southfield twenty-five, Auburn Hills forty-five. A young adult in the suburbs can keep two groups' calendars without choosing between them, and the archdiocese's list makes that easy.
Ann Arbor is forty-five minutes from Detroit, Lansing an hour and a half, Flint an hour; Kalamazoo is two hours and Grand Rapids two and a half; Mount Pleasant is two and a half hours north. The Upper Peninsula is another country by car: Marquette is seven hours from Detroit and Houghton nine, and a Catholic at Michigan Tech dates within the Keweenaw or writes.

Dating as a practising Catholic in Michigan
The archdiocese's list tells you where a group meets and how often; it does not tell you who will be there, because a group's list has one column and a form has more. The cana.love form was written with those other columns, and there are four.
The list says the parish; the form asks it
The group's list says the parish; the form asks which parish you attend, in your own words, and what you do for a living and what the meaning of life is for you, all free text, so that someone who writes St Mary, Royal Oak has said in three words what a group's name only implies.
The list says monthly; the form asks Sundays
The group's list says monthly; the form asks how often you attend church services, with five answers from every Sunday to rarely, and you decide who sees your answer. It is the question people on the Catholic forums say they wish they could ask on the first evening, and here everyone you see has answered it.
The list says young adults; the form asks practice
The group's list says young adults; the form asks your attitude to fasting, from strict to learning, how often you read Scripture, and the question of faith itself, where Catholic is one answer alongside Orthodox Christian, Protestant and others. The list of Orthodox jurisdictions further down the form is for Orthodox members; a Catholic leaves it blank.
The list says come; the site says why
The group's list says come; the site says why: one purpose of registration, looking for marriage; every profile and photograph checked before it is visible, with anything doubtful going to a person; a permanent ban for anyone who asks another member for money; no subscription and no paid tier; sign-in by a one-time link to your email, with no password to keep.
What cana.love is and is not
cana.love is not a Catholic-only platform.
Orthodox Christians, Protestants and people of no confession who want the same kind of marriage are members too, and whom each member sees is set by that member's own filters. In a state whose archdiocese writes that its young adult ministry serves singles and married couples and new parents alike, a narrower promise would be false. What the site promises is exact: faith, practice and intention are questions on the form, and everyone you meet has answered them, as you did. The company behind it is Cana SpA of Santiago, Chile; the About page says the rest.
Meeting safely
- The first meeting is somewhere with other people in it, a sports night in Royal Oak or the social after the young adult Mass, and a friend knows where you are; the conversation stays on the site until you, and not the other person, decide otherwise.
- Nobody you have not met in person receives money from you, and on cana.love the asking is grounds for a report and the asker is removed for good.
The guidelines page explains reviews, reports and appeals.
Common questions
Is cana.love available in Michigan?
It is: adults join from anywhere, Michigan included, and there is nothing to install, because the site opens in the browser of a phone or a computer, in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German or Russian.
I am over 35. Is there anything on this page for me?
The Archdiocese of Detroit draws its line at thirty-five and says so, and the parish groups on its list go with it; the campus parishes are for students. What has no ceiling is on the page too: the Latin Mass at St Joseph Shrine, Flint and Kalamazoo, the Chaldean cathedral, the three shrines and the Little Flower's Thursday series. No diocese in Michigan publishes a group for people over thirty-five that this page could find.
The young adult group takes people up to a certain age. Then what?
Then the parish, which never ages anyone out, and the places here that run without a ceiling; and a profile on cana.love, where the question is not how old you are but how many Sundays a month you are at Mass.
Where is the Traditional Latin Mass in Michigan?
At St Joseph Shrine in Detroit on Sundays, daily at St Mary in Kalamazoo, and on Sundays at noon at St Matthew in Flint; the directory lists a few more diocesan churches with a Latin Mass on one Sunday a month or at a chapel without a street address, and they are not on this page.
Are there Eastern Catholic parishes in Michigan?
The Chaldean Catholic Diocese of St Thomas the Apostle is seated in Southfield, with Mother of God Cathedral on Berg Road and a dozen churches across the suburbs on its own list; the cathedral is on the page and the list is a click away. Chaldean Catholics are in full communion with Rome, and a Latin-rite Catholic may marry in a Chaldean church.
Which groups say what age they are for?
One: Detroit Catholic Young Adults, eighteen to thirty-five. Lansing's diocese and every parish group and campus parish say young adults or students without a number, and this page quotes them exactly.
How far should I search in Michigan?
Metro Detroit as one region, Ann Arbor with it if you will drive forty-five minutes; Lansing and Flint as a second; Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids as a third; the north as its own. Say on your profile whether Ann Arbor to Royal Oak is a distance or a commute.
Where can I find every Catholic parish in Michigan?
On the seven diocesan sites, each with its own parish finder, and on the Chaldean diocese's churches page; this page lists meeting places, not parishes, and says so.
Next steps
Go to the third-Tuesday gathering in Troy, or the young adult Mass in Royal Oak, or the Aquinas Night on Jay Street, or the student parish that was yours, and stay for what comes after. Then, if you would rather know how many Sundays a month someone is at Mass before you know their face, create a profile on cana.love: it is free, and the form asks the questions this page cannot.
