Short answer
In 1597, on the Georgia coast, five Franciscan friars were killed for a marriage. The Diocese of Savannah tells how Friar Pedro de Corpa would not allow a baptized Guale man, heir to a chiefdom, to take a second wife; the heir, opposing the friar's fidelity to Christian teaching on marriage, killed him on 14 September 1597, and the other friars of the missions after him. The diocese has pursued their cause for sainthood, and their beatification was set for Saturday 31 October 2026 in Savannah.
For Catholics hoping to marry in Georgia, it is a local story about why marriage is worth defending.
Twenty-two places are listed below, each with an address and a link to its own page or its diocese's: Atlanta's cathedral and its young adults, four Eastern Catholic parishes, two Latin Mass communities, campus ministries from Georgia Tech to Georgia Southern, a Trappist monastery and Savannah's cathedral basilica. They are not every parish; they are the places whose pages we could read.

Catholics in Georgia
The state has two dioceses: the Archdiocese of Atlanta in the north and the Diocese of Savannah in the south. Savannah's first parish, the cathedral says, was founded near the end of the eighteenth century by immigrants fleeing turmoil in Haiti and France; the diocese itself dates from 1850.
Atlanta's young adult groups often say whom they are for. Abide in Cobb County is for ages eighteen to thirty-nine, the St Brigid young adults in Johns Creek twenty-one to thirty-nine, single and married, and the cathedral has its community of 20 and 30 somethings. In Macon, St Joseph's young adults are eighteen to thirty-five.

Eastern Catholics have churches of their own around Atlanta. The Melkites worship in a 1916 mansion built for Asa Candler of Coca-Cola, bought by the parish in 1955; the Maronites date their community's arrival in Georgia to the 1890s and their parish to 1911; there are Ruthenian Byzantine and Syro-Malabar parishes in the suburbs.
Where the community gathers
The twenty-two places fall into four parts of the state: Atlanta inside the Perimeter, the northern and eastern suburbs, the ring around Atlanta out to Athens, and the south with Savannah.
Atlanta
Atlanta holds six: the Cathedral of Christ the King on Peachtree Road, the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception downtown, the Catholic centers at Georgia Tech and Emory, Lyke House for four colleges of the Atlanta University Center and Georgia State, and the Melkite church in Druid Hills.
The northern suburbs
The northern and eastern suburbs hold seven: St Monica in Duluth with its Sunday Latin Mass, the Korean Martyrs church in Doraville, St Marguerite d'Youville in Lawrenceville with Polish and Haitian Masses, the Maronite parish in Sandy Springs, the Byzantine parish in Roswell, the Syro-Malabar parish in Loganville and the St Brigid young adults in Johns Creek.
Around Atlanta
The ring around Atlanta holds five: the Fraternity of St Peter in Mableton, Abide in Marietta, the Catholic center at Kennesaw State, the Trappist Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers and the Catholic center at the University of Georgia in Athens.
Savannah and the south
The south holds four: the Cathedral Basilica of St John the Baptist and Sacred Heart in Savannah, the Catholic Eagles at Georgia Southern in Statesboro, and St Joseph's young adults in Macon.

Distances that decide everything
A diagram, not a map. Driving times, as in the text.
Inside the Atlanta area, most of these places are within half an hour of one another: Mableton, Kennesaw and Duluth from the cathedral, Doraville from Duluth. Conyers is under an hour east, Athens and Macon each about an hour and a half. Savannah is around four hours from Atlanta, and Statesboro an hour from Savannah.
So Catholic Georgia is really two worlds, Atlanta's metro and the coast. Inside the first, two people can meet on a weeknight; between them, it is a weekend.
The cana.love form asks where you live and whether you would move, so the map is clear from the start.

Dating as a practising Catholic in Georgia
A Melkite Liturgy in a Coca-Cola mansion, a Syro-Malabar Qurbana in Malayalam, a Polish Mass in Lawrenceville and the old rite in Mableton: Catholic Georgia prays in many ways. cana.love leaves room for yours.
Mass, fasting and Scripture, each asked
How often you attend Mass is one question, answered on a five-step scale from weekly down to seldom. Fasting gets its own question, so does Scripture, and so does why you are here; every answer carries its own privacy setting.
Parish and meaning, in your own words
Your parish and what gives your life meaning are free text, because a menu could never hold both a Maronite church in Sandy Springs and a campus center in Athens.
Spanish is one of five languages
Five interface languages are available: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian.
Checked first, free, no password
Nothing new goes public before review: software screens profiles and photos, and a staff member takes the uncertain cases. Asking members for money is banned, and fraud gets an account closed permanently, no second chance. Joining is free, nothing renews, and each sign-in is a single-use link or code by email rather than a password.
What cana.love is and is not
cana.love is not a Catholic-only platform.
Orthodox, Protestant and still-searching members belong too, all seeking the same kind of marriage; your privacy settings control who finds you. Georgia's Catholic parishes pray in Korean, Malayalam, Polish, Haitian Creole, Arabic and Spanish as well as English, and a site that turned others away would be narrower than they are. Its promise is easy to test, since every profile states faith, practice and intentions before you answer. Cana SpA, registered in Chile, operates the site; the About page gives the details.
Meeting safely
- Make the first meeting a daylight one in a public place, with an end time settled: coffee after Mass, a café in Midtown Atlanta or on a Savannah square. Share the plan with a friend and, for I-75 or I-16 after dark, your expected return. Your address can wait.
- Money gets one rule: before you meet face to face, no gifts, no loans and no travel paid, whatever the reason given. We act on a single report.
What happens after a report, and how appeals work, is in the community guidelines.
