Short answer
Two of Arizona's historic missions are still parishes of the people they were built for. San Xavier del Bac, south of Tucson, was founded by Padre Kino in 1692 and, in its own words, continues as an active parish serving the village of Wa:k on the Tohono O'odham Nation. St Michaels, on the Navajo Nation, was handed by the Franciscans to the Diocese of Gallup in 2023 after 125 years.
If you are hoping for a wedding at San Xavier, read its note first: people from all over the world ask to marry there, and the mission's policy is to celebrate marriages and baptisms only for the local community. Come to Mass there; plan the wedding at home.
Eighteen places are listed below with an address and an official link, from Flagstaff and the Navajo Nation to Tucson. They are the places whose own pages we could read, and most of them say who comes and when.
You are reading a page of cana.love, which costs nothing and exists for people who hope to marry. Catholics are not its only members; further down we say exactly who else is.
Catholics in Arizona
Most of the state is divided between the Diocese of Phoenix and the Diocese of Tucson; the north-east belongs to the Diocese of Gallup, whose see is in New Mexico and which lists thirty parish pages in Arizona. Phoenix is also the seat of a Byzantine Catholic eparchy, which moved there after the 1994 Northridge earthquake because, its cathedral says, the buildings at the Phoenix parish were large enough.
Phoenix's diocese defines young adults as eighteen to thirty-nine, and the groups set their own ranges within that: St Thomas the Apostle eighteen to thirty-nine, Holy Spirit in Tempe eighteen to thirty-three, Blessed Sacrament in Scottsdale the twenties and thirties, and in the south the University of Arizona's Newman Center and Flagstaff's The 99 both twenty-two to thirty-five. Tucson's diocesan pages were closed to us, so the south is described through its parishes.
From the missions', the parishes' and the dioceses' own pages, opened 24 September 2026
The traditional Latin Mass is kept by two societies. The Priestly Fraternity of St Peter has a parish in Phoenix with two churches and a satellite in Clarkdale, near Sedona; the Institute of Christ the King has an oratory in Tucson.
Where the community gathers
The eighteen places fall into four parts of the state: Phoenix; Tempe and Scottsdale; the north; and the south, from Casa Grande to Tucson.
Phoenix
Phoenix holds seven. The Diocese of Phoenix's young adult office is downtown, a short walk from St Mary's Basilica. St Thomas the Apostle has a group for eighteen to thirty-nine, and St Augustine in west Phoenix a Spanish-speaking young adult group and most of its Sunday Masses in Spanish. The Fraternity of St Peter's parish, Mater Misericordiæ, celebrates its Sunday Masses at St Edward the Confessor; St Stephen is the Byzantine Catholic cathedral; and the Holy Spirit Newman Center serves students at and around Grand Canyon University.
Tempe and Scottsdale
Tempe and Scottsdale hold four: the All Saints Newman Center at Arizona State, Holy Spirit's young adults in Tempe, Blessed Sacrament's in Scottsdale, and Mar Abraham, a Chaldean Catholic parish in Scottsdale with Masses in English, Arabic and Chaldean.
The north
The north holds three: The 99, a young adult group at San Francisco de Asís in Flagstaff; St Cecilia in Clarkdale, where the Fraternity of St Peter says the Latin Mass daily; and St Michaels Mission on the Navajo Nation.
The south
The south holds four: the Jucar young adult group in Casa Grande, the Institute of Christ the King's St Gianna Oratory in Tucson, the St Thomas More Newman Center at the University of Arizona, and Mission San Xavier del Bac.

Some places are named without a card. The cathedrals in Phoenix and Tucson, the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona and Northern Arizona University's Newman Center have websites that were closed to us, so we give no times for them.
Distances that decide everything
A diagram, not a map. Driving times without traffic.
Phoenix to Tucson is about two hours; Phoenix to Casa Grande an hour, and Casa Grande to Tucson another hour and a quarter. Phoenix to Tempe is twenty minutes. The north is further: Phoenix to Flagstaff is about two hours and forty minutes, and Flagstaff to St Michaels on the Navajo Nation more than three hours again. San Xavier is twenty minutes south of the University of Arizona.
So Catholic Arizona is mostly two metropolitan areas two hours apart, with Flagstaff and the reservations a long drive away. A couple in Phoenix and Tempe can meet any evening; a couple in Phoenix and Tucson are planning weekends.
The cana.love form asks where you live and whether you would move, so both of you know before the first message.

Dating as a practising Catholic in Arizona
A Chaldean Mass in Scottsdale, a Byzantine Liturgy in north Phoenix, a Latin Mass with a Spanish sermon and a mission parish on the Tohono O'odham Nation: Catholic Arizona prays in many ways. cana.love asks how you pray rather than guessing.
Mass, fasting and Scripture, each asked
Mass attendance is one question, answered on a five-step scale that runs from every Sunday down to rarely; fasting and Scripture are asked about on their own. Then comes what you are on the site for. For each of these you choose who can see your answer.
Parish and meaning, in your own words
Two things you describe freely, with no options to pick from: which parish is yours, and what gives your life its meaning. Options would fail a state where one member worships at a mission from 1692 and another at the Newman center at Arizona State.
Five languages, Spanish among them
The site can be used in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian; in a state where so many Sunday Masses are in Spanish, that matters.
Checked first, free, no password
Until a profile and its photographs have been reviewed, nobody sees them; software looks first, and a person decides whatever the software flags as unclear. Asking another member for money is forbidden by the site's rules, and an account found committing fraud is removed permanently and without warning. You pay nothing, subscribe to nothing and keep no password: every sign-in is a single-use link or code sent to your email.
What cana.love is and is not
cana.love is not a Catholic-only platform.
Among its members are Orthodox and Protestant Christians and people who are still looking for their church, if what they want is a marriage built the same way; you decide in your settings who can find you. Arizona's Catholics alone worship in English, Spanish, Arabic and Chaldean and in both Latin and Byzantine rites, so a site that let in only one tradition would be smaller than a single Sunday in Phoenix. What cana.love does promise, you can verify for yourself: faith, practice and intentions are asked on the form, and you read them before answering anyone. The company behind it is Cana SpA, registered in Chile; the About page explains more.
Meeting safely
- For a first meeting, choose daylight, a public place and an agreed hour to part: coffee hour after Mass, a café on Mill Avenue in Tempe or Fourth Avenue in Tucson, and in the hot months somewhere with shade. Someone you trust should know where you are and, if I-10 is involved, when to expect you back. Your home address is for later.
- Money questions have one answer before you have met in person: you do not send, you do not lend, and you do not buy anyone's plane ticket, whatever the reason given. Report whoever asks; a single report is enough for us to act.
What happens after a report, and how to challenge a decision, is described in the community guidelines.
Common questions
Can I get married at San Xavier del Bac?
The mission's own pages say its policy is to celebrate marriages and baptisms only for the local community, though people from all over the world ask. Mass there is open to everyone.
Which young adult groups give an age range?
St Thomas the Apostle in Phoenix eighteen to thirty-nine, Holy Spirit in Tempe eighteen to thirty-three, Blessed Sacrament in Scottsdale the twenties and thirties, The 99 in Flagstaff and the University of Arizona's Young Adult Community twenty-two to thirty-five, and Jucar in Casa Grande eighteen to thirty-five.
Where is the traditional Latin Mass?
St Edward the Confessor in Phoenix and St Cecilia in Clarkdale, both served by the Fraternity of St Peter, and St Gianna Oratory in Tucson, served by the Institute of Christ the King.
Are there Eastern Catholic churches?
St Stephen, the Byzantine Catholic cathedral in Phoenix, and Mar Abraham, a Chaldean parish in Scottsdale.
Is there a Spanish-speaking young adult group?
Yes: the Grupo de Jóvenes Adultos at St Augustine in west Phoenix, and a Latino student community at the ASU Newman Center.
Can I use cana.love anywhere in Arizona?
Yes, from Yuma to the Navajo Nation, once you are eighteen. It works in a web browser, so there is no app to download.
Next steps
Choose one group that names your age and give it two visits: St Thomas the Apostle or Holy Spirit in the Valley, The 99 in Flagstaff, or the Tuesday Young Adult Community in Tucson. And if you want to know how seriously someone lives the faith before a first coffee rather than months after it, set up a free profile on cana.love; those questions are the first things it asks.
