1. Introduction
Cana SpA ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Cana dating platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. We process your information to provide the Service, to comply with our legal obligations, and based on our legitimate interests in keeping the platform safe and improving it; where the law requires it, we rely on your consent. Please read this policy carefully.
2. Information We Collect

When you register and use Cana, we collect:
- Name and display name
- Email address
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Location (state, city)
- Photos you upload
- Profile information (faith background, jurisdiction, interests, lifestyle, and preferences)

- Cookies and similar technologies
Payment Information
If you buy AI credits, payment is handled by a third-party cryptocurrency payment processor. We do not receive or store your card or wallet details. We keep a record of your purchases (amount, credits, date, and the country you provide for tax purposes). The payment processor handles payment data under its own privacy policy.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Create and manage your account
- Display your profile to other users
- Enable communication between users
- Provide optional AI features (match suggestions, chat assistant, advice, and real-time message translation) when you choose to use them
- Moderate content for safety and compliance
- Process purchases of AI credits
- Send service-related notifications
- Improve our Service and develop new features
- Prevent fraud and ensure security
4. AI and Automated Processing
We use artificial intelligence, including third-party AI providers such as Anthropic (located in the United States), for:
- Content moderation & safety: Photos and text — including messages — are analyzed to detect content that violates our guidelines or indicates risks such as scams
- Optional AI assistance: When you use them, the AI advisor, chat assistant, match suggestions, and real-time translation process your profile and the relevant conversation content to generate results
These features may involve automated processing of your content. You can contact us to request human review of any automated decision that significantly affects you.
5. Information Sharing
We may share your information with:
- Other users: Your profile information is visible to other users according to your privacy settings
- Service providers: Third parties who help us operate the Service — including cloud hosting and database (Supabase), image storage (Cloudinary), AI processing (Anthropic), email delivery (Resend), analytics (Google Analytics), error monitoring (Sentry), and, for purchases, a cryptocurrency payment processor. Some of these providers are located outside your country, including in the United States
- Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect rights and safety
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit, secure servers, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time; after a short recovery window your profile and associated data are deleted, typically within 30 days. Some information may be retained longer where required for legal, safety, or legitimate business purposes.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and data
- Export your data
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@cana.love. If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies to run the Service (for example, to keep you signed in) and analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect functionality. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
10. Children's Privacy
Cana is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it.
11. International Data Transfers
Because some of our providers (including Anthropic, Google, Cloudinary, Vercel, and others) are located in the United States and other countries, your information — including messages processed for translation or safety — may be transferred to and processed outside your own country. We rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
